I'm currently building up notes for a star wars (saga edition) campaign… It's legacy era (140ish years after all the movies) so pretty much anything can be thrown in.  I have the core ideas down, and the main drivers of the story… what I lack is good ideas for one-off missions (of the sort that last 1-2 game sessions) to space out the elements of the main plot.  Since it's a slightly "space scum" game I could just pull random missions from the rolling tables in the book, but I'd prefer ones that are a little more elegant.  So I'm here asking for suggestions! :)

The basic plot is that the PCs are all orginally a group that escapes from prison by stealing a damaged ship.  The ship is a *highly* experimental prototype that foolishly docked at the "safe" part of the station for emergency care and repair.  They can't readily sell the ship because it is unique and Imprinted on the PCs… meaning it won't work for anyone else anymore.  Even if they try to abandon it, it will chase after them.  The core story is of course about figuring how the ship works and dealing with the fact that people who made it want it back… and if they are too "noisy" the people it was intended to be used against want it.  It can result in up to a four-way tug of war between the Empire, The Empire in Exile, the Alliance and a Jedi/Vong coalition.

So far the only sub-plot is that the "helpful" person who sets them up with paying jobs and loaning them cash to operate is basically a gangster trying to get control over them.

I used to love the original Starwars till they ran away with it and ruined it all with the newer films and various cartoons. Wish I could come up with something to say. Your plot sounds ok but gives me shivers thinking about 6 year old Anakin stealing a ship and destroying that space station thing by accident <cringe>. All that new material where often the plot evolved around someone blundering into and vanquishing the enemy by tripping over something silly has really killed my enthusiasm :(.

Maybe I should play the starwars game sometime as rehab. I rather liked the computer game Knights of the old republic when it was released. If only there were more quality spinoffs of quality like that then Starwars might get some love from me.

That's why I never run(or play) my games in that whole Rise of the Empire era… It means I can abstract all three of the movies to "Powerful kid was found on a desert planet, he got training that was advised against turned against the jedi and killed them with his master, Instant Empire" and ignore what actually happened in the movies.  Nothing between the point where the kid is found and the point that he becomes a Sith Lord.  Even if I have to find a way to have the players frozen in carbonite for 20 years. ;)

I can all too easily relate to the cringe factor of the 3 new movies, and the clone wars stuff… granted it's aimed at kids.  That's also why I don't really consider stuff from the old Ewok or Droids cartoons as ever having taken place or that it could take place.

The whole blunder-into-a-perfect-success thing bothers me as well.  And this is coming from a guy who uses ultra-critical fumble (you roll a natural 1?  you just shot your friend in the back).

Are you aware they (the same company that made KtoR and KtoR II are making a star wars old republic MMO RPG?  If done right it's expected to be the next WoW.
