Give me a break – Paladins can have familiars too right? And also, at higher levels you can have a bigger familiar. We used to start characters at high level and roll for our familiar to see what we got in the book. Just choose please :P

Surely you are speaking of Animal Companions and Paladin's Mounts.
But in any instance… I'll go with the lion. They tend to get along with my sneaky Druids or Rangers. Or Druid/Rangers. Better.
War Domain or Healing Domain?

Yes, thanks for clarifying :P (that's why YOU are a GM and I'm NOT)
Healing Domain because that's more important :D

Color Spray. As both are fairly useless at higher levels and “controller” wizards are much more effective.

Arcane. There is no bargaining with a Kender. You may think you got a good deal until you notice your coin purse is missing…
Two-Weapon Ranger or Archer Ranger?

Two-Weapon Ranger or Archer Ranger?
Archer. Too many penalties for a second weapon.

Sorcerer, I may not know what I'm about to do but I know it'll be cool!
Choice of NPC to travel with the party: Gnome Paladin or Doppelganger Wizard?

Good neighbor, put away your silver for I only fight for 3 things; Purity, Nobility and Self-Sacrifice.*
*- The purity of your gold, the Nobility that have gold and the Self-Sacrifice of others so that I get their gold.

Kobold Bard of course! Unless it's for Aggressive Negotiations. ;)
Better treasure to recover from a dragon's hoard: A Powerful magic weapon that you know what it does, or a strange shiny object that does not seem magical and nobody can figure out?

The strange shiny object that nobody can figure out. (You must know my back-up DM.)
A goblin in full plate or an Ogre in Superman underwear?

The goblin. I have 2 chaotic regular gamers that would play the Ogre if there was a way…
Prefered location for starting a series: A Tavern/Bar or Jail?

Hm… both are kinda cliche. I'll go with Tavern, Jails are too Elder Scrolls…

Forgotten Realms. Because at least then I can argue with the DM that he is wrong. :P Then again if it's a hybrid (like my idea of a Post-Apocalyptic Forgotten Realms..which I thought of before 4.0 and the spellplague bullshit), I might like that more.

Both, you take a good module and tweak and change it so that it's still good but isn't exactly like the module… So the group's power gaming psycho who read the module goes nuts when none of the traps are quite where he expects.
Party alignments would you rather have a group where everyone is within a range (Law-Good to True Neutral) or where there can be inter-party conflict with good vs evil PCs?

My personal feeling is you play what you want to play. I've dealt with DMs who will have good-only campaigns, but I think those are boring. But in an any-alignment party, I have a rule against purposely hurting each other just to make them upset out of character, or to purposely impact a party member negatively when it matters (like stealing a weapon just before combat).
If you wanna steal each other's gold, then have at it..but I also play a little bit with Karma in that if you do steal from a party member, then that party member might get a better reward than you later. I just don't happen to tell my players that.

I do something very similar myself.
I'd lean towards the oriental feel of Kara-Tur, but that might just be because I've been running Exalted lately. Custom worlds above the pre-created ones though.
Steampunk (or Eberron tech) in D&D, two great tastes that go great together or a vile contamination of Epic Fantasy?
